My letter to Senator Lee:

Senator Lee,

My name is Justin Carmony, and I am the C.T.O. for Dating DNA, LLC, a company that makes iPhone Apps. This is my first time writing a senator, but I feel it is important to convey my thoughts on SOPA and PIPA.

We have struggled with people downloading our Apps from 3rd Party Websites and not paying for them. We are able to monitor and track these “cracked” apps when they connect to our services, and these “cracked apps” number in the hundreds of thousands over time. That is potentially millions of dollars in lost revenue.

I read an opinion article that put into words exactly my opinion on the trends in the public and private sector. Now, I have family and in-laws who work for the government, as well as relatives who have worked a long time and retired. I believe the government has it’s place to do thing in our country.

However, the trend is that more and more people are working for the public sector, and this article puts it into perspective.

WhiteHouse.gov YouTube Channel Hacked?

I’m not sure exactly what this is, but its strange. I wanted to add the whitehouse YouTube channel’s RSS feed to my Google Reader. I might not have voted for Obama, but I think he is using new technologies to communicate with people in a very good way. I’m excited for the precedence that he is setting in the government, and for future leaders, on how to leverage the Internet, video streaming, etc.
